Antioch

PLEASE NOTE: Antioch is currently on hiatus, as we need a new parent couple. If you have some free time, and are dedicated to spreading the faith through the youth, then this is the role for you and your partner. Please contact the Parish Office at  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you are able to help out. God Bless!

Antioch is a friendly, fun and faith filled youth group for people between 16 and 22 years of age. Each Sunday after the 5pm Mass, Antioch holds a meeting which starts at 7.30 and finishes at 9.30. Twice a year, they hold retreat weekends in the Clune Centre where they invite new members to join, however, membership is open, and new members can join at most Sunday meetings. Antioch is different in that it is run BY the youth, FOR the youth, so group members, in effect, minister to the other members. It is however, supported by parent support who supervise, do behind the scenes organising and encourage the young people in their faith.

ANTIOCH WEEKEND – FEBRUARY 2012

The Antioch weekend was held the 24th – 26th of February. It was a weekend full of joy, fun, self-discovery and faith building. It was my first weekend and it is truly one I will never forget.

Every single person brought a different quality that contributed so much to    Antioch. Everyone was so welcoming which allowed the recruits to feel at home straight away. We enjoyed singing our loudest, strumming guitars, talking about our faith and how it contributes to our lives, constantly learning more about others and ourselves.

We had amazing talks from not only people within our own Kingsgrove Antioch community, but also from the wider Antioch community that encouraged us to think about how we could do more to help those around us and the world, as God has asked us to; to spread the good news and to help people find salvation in Christ.

Throughout the weekend I took many inspirational things away with me, one of which is the idea that each of us is special. Christ created each and every single one of us for a reason, a very special reason - to share his love – and we should all accept the challenge and fulfill it. Share his love today, tomorrow and for the rest of your being.

If you are a young person who is   thinking about joining Antioch, come along to the youth meetings on a Sunday night. They are run BY THE YOUTH, FOR THE YOUTH in the Clune Centre from 7.30pm – 9.30pm, under the guidance of adult parishioners.
